About Cath Muermans
I am a children’s book writer, illustrator and maker of handcrafted characters.
I create stories under the name THE MAGICAL FOREST FRIENDS- a gentle and imaginative world where animals and children experience adventures together.
My work combines storytelling,illustration and craftsmanship.
All illustrations are created by me. Some characters grow beyond the page and become EMBROIDERED ARTWORKS or VENTRILOQUIST PUPPETS, allowing stories to be seen, touched and experienced.
My stories are warm, thoughtful and created with care, inviting children to explore imagination, friendship and freedom.
My books are in Dutch but I hope you make the effort to translate.

Luminora- the light you don’t always see.

Not every light shines brightly
some lights need to be felt before they can be seen.
LUMINORA is such a light.
in the story FOEZEL AND THE LIGHT OF LUMINORA, Luminora is not a place or a visible object. It is a gentle presence- a light that appears when you dare to trust, even when the path ahead is unclear.
Luminora stands for quiet hope.
For moving forward without certainty.
for believing that sometimes good exists , even when you cannot yet see it.
For children, Luminora represents inner strength and trust. It shows that searching is allowed , that doubts are part of the journey , and that light can grow slowly, step by step.
Luminora is not about arriving.
It’s about listening , feeling , and continuing - in your own time.
